Delta 8 is being widely discussed as the new mysteries discovered among the 113 cannabinoids in the hemp plant. Under new DEA regulations, it is now federally scheduled to be safe and has similar attributes that are consumers are raving about. So what is Delta 8? And how is this new cannabinoid shaking up the Cannabis industry before it's even started? In this article, we will explore this now wonderful cannabinoid called Delta-8 and its attributes, legal status and answer your need-to-know questions before using Delta 8.

What is Delta 8?

Delta-8-Tetrahydrocannabinol is a


psychoactive cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. It is an isomer of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, the compound commonly known as THC. ∆⁸-THC has antiemetic, anxiolytic, orexigenic, analgesic, and neuroprotective properties. 
In other words, delta 8 is a cannabinoid that's one molecule from its cousin Delta 9. Due to the similarity in chemistry, some would say is the closest cannabinoid that mimics delta-9. 
 Delta refers to the bond found in cannabinoids and its location of that bond that changes the effects of each cannabinoid. 
Delta-8 is formulated during the 8th carbon chain whereas delta-9 is located on the 9th carbon change the small differences vary the effects of each compound rather significantly.
This is why Delta 8 psychotropic potency is less than Delta 9. Delta 8 can be derived from hemp materials which allow D8 to adhere to FDA regulations.

Nevertheless, Delta 8 mimics Delta 9 with less thc potency. This miraculous trait the Delta- 8 possesses allows the cannabinoids to bond with receptors 1 and 2 providing medicinal relief physically and mentally.

Is Delta 8 Legal?

As of May 10th, an online version of the "Orange Book" referring to USA Drug Enforcement Administration Delta 8 is now listed as a controlled substance name for Tetrahydrocannabinol 
Although D8 derives from the hemp
which has been lawful since the 2018 Farmer Bill, the concern rises among legislators if concentrates exceed 0.3 percentage THC would this become a controlled substance likes its accomplice D9.
 as a consequence of Delta-8 is a psychoactive cannabinoid, states like Alaska Arizona Colorado Delaware Kentucky Montana Rhode Island to name a few has challenged of D8 product along with 12 other states. However, some would argue that D8 has a lower psychotropic potency there shouldn't be classified with D9.


According to Russell Lombard, CEO of Canna Redux and Forge Hemp company, told ACS that Delta-8 is here to stay. But Rusell also believes regulators will step in to place some limits on the compound. 

“My hope for the future is that regulators step in and manage Delta-8 responsibly, considering it is not just a product for people to get high. Delta-8 is a therapeutic cannabinoid that helps people with anxiety, depression, and pain management.”
